Economy
America is currently dealing with an economic crisis unseen in over 70 years. Unfortunately, the President and Congress have chosen to drown out all voices of reason and economic improvement, and turn to the ones who want to grow the government through socialist ideals. They hide behind the term “reform”, but intentionally strong-arm for more government intrusion and control.
This path will lead to bankruptcy as a country. Without the money to keep the government running the United States will be forced to join a North American Union and enter into the collective world economic system. That system would include additional government controls and regulations. It is only a matter of time before America has to resign its entire economic destiny to the world and a One World Currency. Independence, liberty, and civil rights will be eliminated. The methods of the federal government must change.
Government Bailouts:
Now is a time to listen to the voices of reason that are encouraging a free market system that regulates itself. Companies that make reckless decisions should be allowed to fall so that better run, more responsible companies can replace them. Taxpayers should not be required to pay the bill for the mistakes of companies that are, by the government’s discernment, “too big to fail.”
Government Spending and Reach:
Congress needs to cut spending drastically and bring America back to the fundamentals of government. This means cutting some of the “sacred cows” of the executive branch, such as the Department of Education and the Department of Energy. Both are bloated, overregulated, and better administered at the state level. The federal government’s involvement in such aspects of American lives, deciding the regulations and bypassing the state-mandated processes, causes the overstepping of the government’s constitutional role as protector of the nation and its citizens.
Taxation:
Major tax reform is needed to allow Americans to keep more of the money that they earn. Right now Americans are forced to pay taxes depending on the amount of income they earn. A significant portion of the year is spent earning enough money to pay tax debt. This is a system that promotes unequal treatment of Americans.
The solution to this system is simple—the “Fair Tax”. It provides a source of taxation that has an element of choice for taxpayers as it is based on consumption. Products would be taxed at a flat percentage rate. Those consumers who buy higher priced items would bring in more tax revenue, while paying the same tax rate as any other consumer. This will increase sales tax on purchases, while lowering the overall cost of products, and eliminate the federal income tax. The economy will grow stronger and provide for the basic resources our country needs.
The inheritance tax, or “death tax”, should be eliminated. It is hurting small business owners— especially those who own farms and ranches— as well as robbing families of the life-work and preparation of their family members.
The Federal Reserve:
A major overhaul of the Federal Reserve is needed. The Fed is at the root of this economic disaster. It has too much power over our economic systems and has driven the value of a dollar down over 90% since its inception. The Constitution does not give the federal government the power to control banking. The Fed should be reviewed strictly and then a recommendation for reform or abolishment should be presented.
We are a great nation and we should have a strong economic system. We are at a critical moment and the voices of taxpayers and business owners should be heard. I will do all I can to make those voices heard in D.C. and help shift this nation back to its great foundation.
