"Some Abilenians are balking at census questions"
Burwell family speaks out about constitutionality of 2010 Census
by Doug Myer 3/14/2010
"Burwell and other resisters around the country say the census questionnaire intrudes on their privacy because the only constitutional requirement is for a head count...." Read full article.
Many comments were made by readers, many agreeing with the intrusiveness of the Census, this was the response to some of those by Robyn Burwell, wife of John Burwell:
Hey y'all this is Robyn Burwell, just so you know, the reporter didn't get all that info from me. I did not state my middle name for example. I offered certain info voluntarily. And yes I am an adjunct professor at ACU- so I teach part time.
I am not a secretive person or a conspiracy theorist, but I am going to stand up for my rights. If the govt wants the info, they can do the work themselves. My family is my business.
And by the way, those organizations that depend on govt funding will also have the govt calling the shots whenever they so choose. If taxes were decreased in this nation people would be able to afford private donations to such great organizations as the Boys Ranch. The more dependant we are on govt, the more they can make our choices for us. I would rather decide things for myself.
"Growing up" means being able to decide and work for what you have, not giving it all up to the govt.
Why doesn't the Census ask if we are citizens? Will they include the count of illegals when they decide representation? At this point the representatives don't care what the people want anyway.
If you want to see someone who will be a thorn in their side...
